After arriving at the Yas Marina Media Center, the venue for all the press during the Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi, it didn’t take long until the venue was filled with students from all around the United Arab Emirates participating to win the tickets for the World Finals 2013.

Unfortunately, the official begin of the competition was not as pleasant, as we would have wished. All teams received reports mentioning if their cars violated against any critical rules. And yes, Safire Racing did have a minor infringement, which caused points taken off. This was of course a setback for the whole team, but it didn’t take long until we were back filled with positive energy to continue to try our very best at the competition. And anyways, you learn out of setbacks like this. We learned to not only double-check all rules and guidelines for the car in future, but to therefore let it be checked by as many people it needs, to never run into such a situation again.

By the way, did you know that Chris, from the 2012-Safire Racing team, was involved during as the emcee for the race track?

The whole-day event passed rapidly and then it was time for the prize giving, which was clearly the moment of all sorts of emotions running through our bodies simultaneously.

Safire Racing won the prize for the Best Verbal Presentation (again!), and the overall second place! It has to be mentioned, that we would have reached first place if we would not have had the infringement. We are extremely proud of our achievements and this once again proves Safire Racing to successfully show a strong team identity and innovation.

Winning the second overall place allows us to participate at the World Finals 2013 in Austin, Texas in November 2013. As a collaboration team with the Greek “White Blue Bullets”, the Safire Blue Bullets Racing Team will present itself as a collaboration team, F1 in Schools has not yet seen before.
